National Equestrian Awards 2020

The equestrian community will join together to celebrate and recognise the outstanding achievements of Scottish equestrianism. In order to secure your place at this year’s Annual Awards Dinner please ensure you purchase your tickets as early as possible to avoid disappointment by completing the booking form at the end of this nomination form.

The horsescotland Awards provide the opportunity to thank members for their dedication and to recognise their achievements.

All nominations must clearly demonstrate why the contribution of the nominee should be recognised.  You should take into account the criteria below and provide clear evidence as to how the nominee has been:

  • creative in developing equestrianism in Scotland

  • ensuring a high quality experience for their members

  • developing long-term opportunities for their Member Body(s), group of athletes or individuals

Nominations are open to all and should be submitted by 5pm on Friday 31st January 2020

NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN. 

A list of all the nominations will be announced by Friday 7th February 2020.The nominations will be considered by the horsescotland judging panel and the winners announced at the dinner on the 6th March 2020. So book your place NOW, as places are limited.

THE AWARDS

1. Club of the Year

  • This award will be made to a club who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of equestrianism at a local, regional or national level.

Evidence

  • Has contributed to the development of their participants

  • Has created a safe, fun, nurturing and inclusive environment for development

  • Has adopted a rider-centred approach to coaching

2. Equestrian Business of the Year

  • This award will be made to a Scottish based equestrian business that has made an outstanding contribution to the development of equestrianism at a local, regional or national level. Please note this category is open to all businesses from a freelance individual to large established businesses.

 

Evidence

  • Customer service delivery

  • Product knowledge

  • Awareness of retailer requirements

3. Equestrian Employee of the Year

  • This award will be made to an employee of an equestrian organisation who has made an outstanding contribution. This could be any employee ranging from administrative support to a groom.

Evidence

  • The employer should demonstrate the positive impact this employee has made on their organisation and outline the contributions they have made.

4. Equestrian Photo of the Year

  • This award will be made to the photographer (professional or other) of the best equestrian related photograph.  The horsescotland Board will create a shortlist and the public will vote for their favourite via social media channels.

  • A high resolution electronic photo must be submitted with this nomination form, with sections 1, 2 & 3 completed, there is no need to complete section 4 of the nomination form for this category.

  • Any photos submitted for this category can be used by horsescotland, whilst crediting the photographer, for promotional purposes.

5. Equestrian Writer of the Year

  • This award will be made to an Equestrian Writer who has made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of the Scottish equestrian sector.

  • Evidence

  • Raised profile of the Scottish Equestrian Sector in Scotland and further afield

  • Proven track record of continuous publication of their writing in publications or online, including Blogs.

  • A minimum of 2 examples of published writing must be submitted as evidence.

6. Equestrian Breeder of the Year

  • This award will be made to a breeder who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of equine breeding.

  • Evidence

  • Raised profile of the breed in Scotland and further afield

  • Proven track record of breeding quality equines in Scotland

7. Youth Coach of the Year

  • This award will be made to a coach who is Under 21 years old (at the time of applications closing), and has supported the development of athletes or teams, and has significantly increased the sporting opportunities available and participation levels within, their community.

  • Evidence

  • Has delivered regular quality coaching sessions to a group or to individual athletes

  • Created a safe, enjoyable and inclusive environment for participation

  • Has demonstrated innovative practice in their coaching

8. Participation Coach of the Year

  • This award will be made to a coach who has supported the development of athletes or teams and has significantly increased the sporting opportunities available and participation levels within, their community.

  • Evidence

  • Has delivered regular quality coaching sessions to a group or to individual athletes

  • Created a safe, enjoyable and inclusive environment for participation

  • Has demonstrated innovative practice in their coaching

9. Performance Coach of the Year

  • This award will be made to a coach working with athletes and teams at the highest level of sport.   The award looks for evidence of player-centred development leading to successful performance at the most senior level of International, UK or Scottish sport.

  • Evidence

  • Has adopted a player-centred approach to coaching

  • Has made a difference to the performance of an athlete or team based on resources available to them

  • Has coached athletes or teams who have delivered a successful performance at National or International Level

10. Performer of the Year

  • This award will be made to a performer who has achieved an outstanding result(s) at national and/ or international level.

  • Evidence

  • Has delivered successful performances at the highest level of Scottish, UK or international sport

  • Has promoted equestrianism in a favourable and positive manner, being an ambassador for Scotland

11. Youth Performer of the Year

  • This award will be made to a performer who is Under 21 years old (at the time of applications closing) has achieved an outstanding result(s) at national and/ or international level.

  • Evidence

  • Has delivered successful performances at the highest level of Scottish, UK or international sport

  • Has promoted equestrianism in a favourable and positive manner, being an ambassador for Scotland

12. Volunteer of the Year

  • This award will be made to a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of equestrianism at a local, regional or national level.

  • Evidence

  • Has significantly increased the opportunities available to their club, centre or event

  • Has helped create a safe, enjoyable and inclusive environment for participation

  • Has given of their time more than is expected

13. Youth Volunteer of the Year

  • This award will be made to an Under 21 years old (at the time of applications closing) who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of equestrianism at a local, regional or national level.

  • Evidence

  • Has significantly increased the opportunities available to their club, centre or event

  • Has helped create a safe and enjoyable environment for participation

  • Has given of their time more than expected

14. Young Peoples Coach of the Year

  • This award will be made to a coach who has made an outstanding contribution to the introduction and early development of sport for young people under the age of 18.

  • Evidence

  • Has delivered quality coaching in a safe environment

  • Has contributed to the development of the basic skills of a young athlete or a young team

  • Has created a safe, fun, nurturing and inclusive environment for development

  • Has demonstrated innovative practice in their coaching.

15. Owner of the Year

  • This award will be made to an owner who has made an outstanding contribution to supporting our Scottish sporting sector

  • Evidence

  • Registered owner of a horse which is stabled, produced and  competed in Scotland

  • Demonstrated commitment to support the development of the sport

16. Team of the Year

  • This award will be made to a team who have work together to achieve outstanding result(s) whether it’s, a team of coaches, trainers or professionals or a team representing a club/ organisation at national and/ or international level.

  • Evidence

  • Has delivered successful achievements/ performances at the highest level of Scottish, UK or international sport or industry

  • Has promoted equestrianism in a inclusive, favourable and positive manner, being an ambassador for Scotland

Please note that the horsescotland Board/ judging panel reserves the right to not present every award each year or to potentially reclassify nominees or merge coaching categories dependent on number of nominations received.
