Updated: Dec 12, 2019

Robyn Smith is an international dressage rider that is part of the performance squad on horsescotland. This week we had Robyn sent us her #2019Recap and what a season its been!

Performance squad member Robyn Smith has been recognised as one to watch following the annual BHS awards where she was credited with the Young Persons awards for outstanding achievement and potential. Robyn made the trip down to the magnificent Saddlers’ Hall in London to collect her award amongst many inspiring and dedicated people.

Catching up with Robyn she said:

“I was in complete shock when I was first told I had won the award! What a privilege to be recognised in this way, there are so many talented young people across the country so it was a real honour. I had a lovely time and met some incredible people who have achieved so much, it was very humbling. I have worked this year at developing my philosophy as a rider and coach, I take a holistic view to riding, coaching and performance and have spent the year doing exactly that. I am delighted to have had the success I have had this year and already have plans in motion to make sure we can continue going forward. I am currently working on developing my website and equestrian brand as well as taking steps towards further qualifications.”

Following on from her success at the BHS awards last month, HorseScotland Performance squad rider Robyn Smith has had another successful evening at the British Dressage Scotland Ball. Robyn and her upcoming stallion, Francesco 77 were awarded with the Duntarvie Edward Trophy for gaining the highest score at the Scottish Regional Championships earlier this year where they competed in Intermediate 1 with a score of over 73%.

They also collected the Foold Uz FEI Champion trophy, named after Robyn’s recently retired European championship horse, for their performance at FEI level. In addition, Robyn received a separate award for being one of 4 riders in Scotland to compete at Grand Prix this year of which she was the only rider aged under 25. Speaking to Robyn, she said:  “I had no idea that I would even be in the running for any award let alone come away with 3! This year has been absolutely fantastic and would not have been at all possible without the outstanding team I have around me.”
