Lucy Stewart February Blog✨
So, this is my last blog as a horsescotland Development Squad Member as at the end of the month horsescotland begin the selection process for the Performance Squad for the next two years. I have been very fortunate to have been on the Performance Programme on three occasions now. The first time I was selected for the Performance Squad when I was 13/14 years old for Children on Horses as I was long listed for the European Team. I was then selected for the Development Squad on the Performance Programme in 2017 and again in 2019. It has been one of the best journeys with the horsescotland Team, the knowledge and training they have given me over the years has been incredible and I am very grateful to them all for the time and effort they have given me over the years.
I would highly recommend anyone in Scotland applying for the programme as it is one of the best experiences to work with these amazing coaches and they make you believe that no dream is too big.
I had my last training with the team via zoom at the end of February which was really great to catch up with everyone. We had sent in videos for the coaches to review and give feedback on, we also done our biomechanics videos for the physio to assess us and the horses. They helped me make my plans moving forward which are very adaptable so that depending on when shows resume we will be ready to go out and compete. I look forward to working with the team out with the programme and keeping in touch with everyone.
Our horses haven’t been doing a huge amount this month, just gradually getting back into work, building some muscles, working on getting them supple so that they are working properly and then we can work on straightness.
Hopefully everyone is staying safe and gets their vaccine soon. Fingers crossed it won’t be long before we get back to what we all love….Showjumping.
