June has been a very busy and exciting month for us at home. I am still on furlough from work which still feels very strange but it is allowing me to spend more time with my amazing horses and doing lots of jobs at home.
We have been renewing our arena at home and I am delighted to say it is now finished. We have extended it from what we had before, fixed all the drainage and laid a new membrane and surface. It is absolutely perfect for riding on so I am delighted with the outcome. Cancun and Glow still haven’t jumped much as not sure when our competition is going to resume in Scotland but we have been working on their flatwork and fitness so we are ready when the time comes.
My equine physio, Kathryn Prentice, was able to come out and give the horses a physio session which they enjoyed. It was also great to check up on how their muscles are and make sure they are building their muscle up in the correct way after having so much time off in the winter. All horses are in great condition and ready to start competing whenever that may be. I have been very fortunate to be working on online marketing programme with Click Horse Marketing which HorseScotland have organised and funded for its squad members. It is very interesting to get feedback on our businesses and how we can improve our online marketing skills.
I had a jumping lesson on my young horse, Joey, and he went amazing. He jumped lots of new fillers including his first water tray and we learnt a huge amount. I can’t wait to take him to HorseScotland training for a lesson with John and Erik to get their opinions. Looking ahead we are hoping for the go ahead from the government and the national bodies to start training shows which will progress to proper shows.
