So May has been very much the same as April due to me still being on furlough from work and able to enjoy every day with my amazing horses.
Joey has really improved massively with me getting a chance to spend lots more time with him and doing lots of new things. He went on his first hack round all the big fields, came across a deer and lots of birds but was very good. We have been doing some trot pole exercises with him and small jumps too.
Cancun and Glow have been loving being out in the big fields for trot and canter, we have also been doing some trot poles and flatwork too. They are feeling much fitter and stronger which is great. With lockdown being slowly lifted, we managed to get an arena hire at our neighbours, we are able to hack across the field to them so very handy. Cancun and Glow had their first jump in 11 weeks and were very exited to be back doing what we love. HorseScotland has been unfortunately cancelled the last couple of months but they have been putting on online physio and fitness sessions weekly for squad members which is great to be able to use lockdown to really work on myself making sure I am fit and strong to ride my horses properly. HorseScotland arranged a very informative farrier talk with Jim Ferrie which was extremely interesting and I learnt a huge amount about the horses hooves. We also managed to get a training afternoon in at Muirmill which was great to be able to jump a full course of jumps. Joey really benefited from this jumping 2 lovely clear rounds, showing he will definitely be ready for shows once they are able to start up again.
Hope everyone is staying safe during these times and hopefully able to enjoy their horses too. Looking forward to being able to do more with the horses as lockdown lifts slowly.
