Rose Foley
DRESSAGE
About.
Rose Foley is a Dressage Rider on the #horsescotland Performance Programme.
DOB: 2005
Discipline: Dressage
Occupation: Groom/Rider
Based in: Barstobrick (Dumfries and Galloway)
I have been bought up with horses and my first dressage competition was when I was 8 years old in a 10 and under class on a pony who has been in our family for over 30 years. My parents then bought me an un backed 3 year old 13hh pony, I backed and produced him then we started to get involved with BD youth, we finished our competition partnership in 2018 and ended Scottish novice freestyle champions before getting offered the ride on Cordici K.
I say Cordici K (a.k.a Gucci at home) changed my life because he really did! Starting our way at the very bottom of the premier league table to representing GB and winning a high-profile show. Moving off ponies into juniors I was lucky to have the ride of Corchapin (a.k.a Colin) who gave me experience riding at a higher-level including riding in a demo for carl Hester and winning two Scottish advanced medium titles.
I’m now aiming towards PSG (Young Rider level) with a new ride.
Before I started PFEI I got all my inspiration from Phoebe Peter’s and she has been a great support since I met her at the winter championships in 2020 and often congratulates us after a big competition. Lottie Fry is also very inspiring achieving so much at a young age and currently being world champion I was lucky enough to meet her at the national championships last September whilst I was competing.
Being part of the horsescotland Performance Squad will enable me to access everything that I need to be the best possible athlete and to work towards fulfilling my ambition to compete at a European championship.
