horsescotland Performance Programme
2021 - 2023
The horsescotland Performance Programme is funded via sportscotland Lottery funding. It is a two year programme and the new cycle started in May 2021. The Programme was open to any Scottish athlete who met the qualification requirements set out by their specific Olympic discipline. horsescotland worked closely with our Olympic discipline Member Bodies for their support in this process.
Training will be held every two months for the athletes at venues across Scotland to give experience of a variety of venues and locations. The programme delivers technical skills training from Commandant John Leddingham, our show jumping coach, and Harry Payne, our dressage coach. Riders are also supported on the programme through our strength and conditioning coaches Robyn Dunn, physiotherapist, and Lauren Semple, fitness/nutritional specialist. The team will work closely together with the athletes, offering a holistic approach in supporting them to achieve success. Athletes also receive training in running their own business to support them in their careers, including media training.
