John recently retired following a long career in social work in which he specialised in criminal justice. He has held a number of management posts in the Statutory and Independent sector. Over the years John has been part of a number of Government Working Parties involved in reforming/ developing Social Work Practice.
John has delivered papers at a number of conferences including a visit to China to speak at a conference on Community Correction and Post-Imprisonment Protection.
In relation to equestrianism John has been a long term member of British Eventing and British Showjumping as a competitor and owner, owning a couple of horses for Performance Squad member Daniel Scott. He has been a horse trials committee member and has volunteered at a wide range of equestrian events.
John had a brief period as Performance Director with horsescotland when it was known as the Scottish Equestrian Association in 2008. Due to work commitments he had to give up that role. Now that he is retired, John is looking forward to working on the horsescotland board.
