BHS News From Bart's Bank

Bart’s Bank Stables is a small, rural and unique centre located within the Scottish Borders. We are a family run centre and have three native breed ponies on our riding school licence.

We specialise in providing a high standard of educational pony care and riding for children.

Our aim has always been to improve equine knowledge and welfare for the children of the future.

Initially, the launch of the BHS Pony Stars attracted us to becoming a BHS Approved Riding Centre. We knew that the Pony Stars programme would fit perfectly with our approach to delivering the skills to have fun with ponies, while learning and staying safe. We were unsure whether we would meet the criteria to become a BHS Approved Centre, due to our limited facilities, small size and child centred setting. Surprisingly, it was very straightforward and inexpensive, with the valuable encouragement from Karen Moon, our BHS business support manager. Karen advised, supported and guided us through the approvals process with ease. The BHS made us feel valued and recognised as a small centre.

Becoming a BHS Approved Centre, has enhanced our business in numerous ways. We have been able to use additional programs, which have helped us to grow and develop.

More recently we have had the opportunity to deliver the Changing Lives Through Horses

programme to our local schools. This has been a tremendous and worthwhile success for our local community. This enabled us to provide children with the opportunity to discover their natural talents and strengths, essential for their future and wellbeing.

We are now looking forwards to becoming a BHS Pony Party Provider for our young enthusiastic children and their friends. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the BHS for their excellent and ongoing support throughout our enjoyable journey as a small centre.
