Kelly Connor is a Showjumping Rider on the #horsescotland Performance Programme.
Based in: Kirkcaldy , Scotland.
Kelly's sporting hero
Meredith Micahaels Beerabum – she is not the typical stature of a show jumper and someone that I can look to and say if she can do it then so can I . She is so adaptable, her horses don’t have to be ones that you would typically say are suitable for her to ride, she works very hard to achieve what she has and she makes it happen.
Her approach and her attitude inspire me to work harder.
I initially followed her because Shutterfly was like a horse I used to have.
Her work ethic is fantastic and every horse she has is different. She lets her horses have a buck and a play if the need to as she knows the horses have to be happy to get the results. I am also quite a small rider and I realise that this is true, my horses are a lot bigger and stronger than me and I have to learn how to adapt to get the best out of each different horse.
I am a qualified beautician. When I left school I was a full time PA for my dad, then I trained as a beautician. When I qualified I used to work in Harvey Nichols, I was not used to having to get up in the morning and do my hair and make-up before going to work, I am more used to just getting up and pulling on my riding gear.
Her Results include:
Scottish puissance champion and current Scottish Northwest Champion (Grand Prix at Blair)
Gold and 2 bronze medals in young rider nations cup team
