horsescotland is directly responsible for the management and delivery of certain training and development programmes and services for rider pathway development.horsescotland work closely with sportscotland to deliver services that are geared towards increasing participation and improving performance in equestrian activities by developing and supporting volunteers, training coaches and instructors and raising the standards of participants at all levels.
We also work closely with British Equestrian Federation (BEF), sportscotland and UK Sport in developing its high performance programme focused on winning medals at international level.
The horsescotland Performance Squad is a funded programme via sportscotland Lottery funding. It has been running for many years and has seen increased funding funding following the 2012 Olympics where Scott Brash, a former member, won Olympic Gold.
The horsescotland Development Squad is for riders who are just below the citeria for the Performance Squad with the aim to improve the riders standard to bring riders up to Performance Squad standard in the future.
The horsescotland Performance Squad is a funded programme via sportscotland Lottery funding.
It is a two year programme with January 2017 being the start of the new 2 year cycle.
The horsescotland Development Squad is aimed at the Olympic discipline riders that are just below the Performance squad criteria/ selection.
Members of the Development Squad will be invited to training with UKCC Level 3 coaches and will be able to access some of the same off horse training the Performance Squad receive.
